In August 1987, the Bishop of Katowice, Damian Zimoń, appointed Fr. Józef Anczok, the rector of the chapel and the builder of the new church, entrusting him with the task of establishing an independent parish in Lisowice. Fr. Józef Anczok, together with the faithful and with the considerable help of Fr. Henryk Gajda, the parish priest, started building the church. The new parish was established on January 1, 1989, and the construction of the church began in mid-October 1989.
After five years of work, on November 26, 1994, the bishop of Gliwice, Jan Wieczorek, solemnly consecrated the new church. st. John of Nepomuk. In 2008, the relics of the patron were brought from Prague. In 1999, a parish cemetery was established at Nowa street.
