In the period from May to November 1945, in the hospital in Toszek, there was an NKVD camp - a labor camp, in which mainly men of German nationality were detained. It is estimated that about 3.5 thousand people died there as a result of slave labor and torture. They were buried in a sand pit (Sandgruba) in a mass grave on the road towards Wielowieś. A huge erratic boulder with a bronze plaque, a cross and an inscription in Polish and German: "Here are the victims of the NKVD camp in Toszek. May - November 1945", was unveiled on May 16, 1998. Every year in May, ceremonies in memory of the Victims are held here.
