Palace and park complex of the Ballestrem family in Kochcice

Dodaj do planera

The estate of Ludwik Karol Ballestrem in Kochanowice is undoubtedly the most beautiful building in the town. The palace complex was built in the years 1903–1909, although its oldest part dates back to the end of the 19th century. Today, this historic, neo-baroque palace combines traditions and local history with modernity, as it houses one of the departments of the Provincial Hospital of Trauma Surgery in Piekary Śląskie.

The palace was built on a rectangular plan in the Neo-Baroque style. It is a three-story building with 11 axes from the front, covered with a mansard roof with dormers. Two projections are located on the sides of the building, while the third one is placed in the center and houses the main entrance, decorated with a portal with columns and the Ballestrem coat of arms. In front of the entrance, we see a two-sided driveway.

The palace is situated within a 16-hectare park, for the maintenance of which the management of the Provincial Rehabilitation Center, located here earlier, received in 1992 the Gold Medal, officially presented by the Minister of Culture and Art at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. In the sanatorium, patients can take advantage of many different therapeutic treatments, and the perfect acoustics of the representative room is conducive to artistic performances. There are farm buildings to the west of the palace building.

The palace complex, due to its functions, is not open to the public.
