The building was erected on the site of an older wooden church from 1703. On April 30, 1838, the ministry of clergy, education and health in Berlin issued official permission to build the temple. Construction of the church was completed in 1842 and the temple was consecrated on November 24. In the years 1873-1874 a tower was added to the church.
