Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Laryszów

Dodaj do planera

Laryszów belonged to the Evangelical parish in Tarnowskie Góry, but was separated from it by the state border in 1922 after a plebiscite in Upper Silesia. Organizing the burials of the dead in the Tarnowskie Góry cemetery was made difficult, so in 1924, an evangelical cemetery was opened in the village. Laryszów was inhabited by only one Catholic family, and the rest of the population was of Evangelical faith, therefore it was decided to build a Lutheran temple for the town. The Evangelical Church of Stefan was consecrated on July 8, 1928. The village also obtained its own priest.

During World War II, the administration of the church was taken over by the parish in Tarnowskie Góry. After the war ended, the administration of the parish was taken over by the parish priest in Bytom, Fr. Henryk Wegener-Wojnowski. Most of the members of the congregation were displaced to Germany, and those who remained were persecuted.

He remained under the care of the Bytom parish Laryszów until 2002, when he returned to the management of Tarnowskie Góry. Then, after less than ten years, the administration of the church was taken over by the parish in Bytom-Miechowice.
