The church was built in the 15th century. In 1575, it was taken over by the Evangelicals and held by them until 1629. In the years 1679–1687, the church's call was changed from Nativity to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In 1857, the tower was destroyed after a lightning strike, and it was rebuilt in 1860. In 1910, a project to build a new church was completed, but it was never completed. In 1927, the church tower was rebuilt, and in the years 1934–1935 a wide transverse nave and a presbytery were added to the church, which completely changed the gothic form of the old church.
