Palace in Kochanowice

Dodaj do planera

The palace in Kochanowice, with the features of classicism, was built at the beginning of the 19th century as the residence of the von Aulocks. This building, originally belonging to the von Aulock family, became the seat of the local school in the interwar period - after the local property was parceled out by the District Land Office. It performs this function until today.

The object is built on a rectangular plan, two-storey with an elevated avant-corps, covered with a mansard roof. It has an eleven-axis facade with windows framed by flat rectangular frames. The representative entrance is located in the central avant-corps, preceded by a prominent porch supported by four pillars. The risalit has three storeys and is topped with a triangular pediment. It is decorated with pilaster strips. On the façade above the entrance there is a cartouche with the coat of arms of the von Aulock family. The original two-bay interior layout with a staircase in the eastern avant-corps has been preserved in the palace.

The palace remained in the hands of the von Aulock family until 1929, when the District Land Office in Katowice approved the land parcelling. Then, thanks to the efforts of the village administrator W. Dyll, the palace became the property of the commune and was converted into a school.

During World War II, the school continued to function. After the Soviet army passed, the building was devastated and the antique furniture was destroyed.

In February 1945, a school was reopened here. Currently, the restored palace houses the School Complex in Kochanowice.
