Church of St. Jakub in Sośnicowice

Dodaj do planera

St. Jakub the Elder in Sośnicowice is a building from the mid-fourteenth century, which, as a result of subsequent reconstructions, acquired a largely baroque character. In 1780, the temple was consumed by a fire.

In the years 1786-94 there was a reconstruction, made on the initiative of Count Scherr-Thoss-Chorinsky. In the church, we can also see late baroque altars and valuable, forged steel doors (separating the sacristy from the chancel), which are unique and probably dating back to the 15th century.

There is a statue of St. John of Nepomuk from the beginning of Nineteenth century, originally standing on the market square in Sośnicowice. Next to the church of St. James the Elder, there is also a stone, gothic penitential cross.
