Aside from the massive defensive structures, the fortifications of Fortress Kostrzyn also include a multitude of smaller objects scattered around the forts, such as bunkers and munitions storehouses. The objects were built hastily and with inferior quality materials, but also easy and quick to complete. Their purpose was to provide the crews manning the resistance points with cover against the artillery shelling. The bunkers could hold 2/3 of one company of 250 soldiers.
