Palace ruins in Lubno

Dodaj do planera
The village of Lubno was once known for the romantic, fairy-tale Gothic Revival palace built in the years 1865-75, and the park that surrounded it. The man behind the concept of the palace and the park was Eberhard von Bassewitz, father of Gerdt Bernhardt Bassewitz who was the author of the popular children’s book “Peter and Anneli’s Journey to the Moon”. The fairy-tale atmosphere of the Lubno estate likely influenced Gerdt Bassewitz’s imagination. Although the palace survived World War II and was then used for many years as a State Agricultural Farm facility, in the 1980s it was neglected and gradually fell into ruin.
